Following Your Life Path

Following Your Life Path

There is one thing that still amazes me everyday: all the things I’ve done that I never thought I’d do!

I think we all have ideas of what we will do as we get older and we envision what kind of job(s) we will have, what type of family, whether or not we will have kids, where we want to live and so on. I certainly had ideas as I grew up but I certainly did not imagine 50% of what I’m doing now and have done so far!

I attribute quite a bit to opportunity! I worked at a fishing lodge when I was freshly out of school for the summer. It was fun and so nice to be on my own! Returning back to my parents I realized I quite liked being on my own and wasn’t afraid to travel. In fact, I realized I should travel and see what’s out there before settling down.

With winter approaching, I looked west at ski lodge opportunities, applying at almost every one I could think of. After not getting any calls back I decided to stay put (in Manitoba) and applied for some jobs there. I was going for a 2nd interview at a restaurant when I got a call from a Jasper ski lodge. I turned down the ski lodge thinking I had made up my mind to stay in Manitoba. As I hung up, the handset was barely back on the receiver as the thought entered my head, “Yes. I am going to work at a ski lodge.”  It just wasn’t going to be Jasper.

A couple of days later, I received a call from Panorama ski lodge. They were coming into Winnipeg to do interviews and we set up a time. I knew this is where I wanted to work and meeting the interviewers I knew Panorama was were I was supposed to be! I got the job and soon was taking the bus to the resort.

With only my pillow, a bag of clothes and a blanket I was on the bus, arriving into Invermere late at night. Waiting at the bus stop (at the time everything in Invermere was closed down after 9pm!) all alone, outside, I wasn’t even fearful that I was being abandoned. The van from the resort was over an hour late picking me up due to an avalanche, but I knew it would be there.

My time at the lodge was amazing, meeting so many people from all over the world. Sharing stories, experiences and learning more about who I was and what I wanted out of life. I did eventually move back to Manitoba and stayed there for the next 7 years. But, as fate will always have it, I promised I’d one day move back out west, to the mountains I fell in love with.

I didn’t have the income or job experience at the time to move myself and my son out west. Wanting a better life for us, I went into debt to pay for my schooling. Getting educated in Business Administration which opened the door to so many jobs. It was this decision that allowed me to move out West. I focused on Calgary since there was a job surplus and it was then I met my husband. Within 3 months of deciding to move out to Calgary, I was settled in with a job lined up.

When I was on maternity leave I decided to do a home-business for some extra income and for something to do. That path led me to a new world of business. The online world. I opened my online store, joined some pre-existing businesses, began writing articles on health and wellness which turned into self-publishing some books as well!

Now I run a few businesses, I am continually learning and exploring new things and am filled with the knowledge that I will learn even more every day. This world is too small, to not experience more. Our minds are too great to not open them to all that is. I am thankful for the event that first started this journey, thankful to  my parents who always supported me and gave me the confidence to venture forth into this world and experience all there is to experience, and I encourage anyone else to do the same because you only come around once!

Essio Aromatherapy Shower Solutions – Scam?

Have you heard about this? I hadn’t until today but now I am intrigued. A shower turned into a spa? The ability to infuse your water with essential oils to create a perfect mind body and soul experience?

The company is also inviting others to try the products and give reviews. Sure I”m game to review this product but more than that, I want to share this with others because I think it’s a delightful way to relax and unwind! Not to mention it would make a pretty unique gift idea wouldn’t it?!

***UPDATE****

Sorry but I had to do this to see if the offer was legit or not. Still on the fence but here is what has transpired so far:

Sign up and review for free, or so that’s what they say!

The first 100 bloggers will get a chance to review the product free once they fill out a form and post a blog on their blog.

Guess what you get? An email from their CEO (apparently) who says you are #105 in line. BUT WAIT! You can cut in line (seriously?) by referring this contest to 5 of your blogging pals and get them to post something.

Sound fishy?

I blogged from 2 different blogs and both were #105 in line. Can you explain that Peter Friis?

Sounds like a social media promotion fail to me.

See Peter’s automatic reply below:

Hi Tamara,

Thank you so much for your interest in reviewing ESSIO!

You are currently #105 to request a free sample. Cut in line by getting 5 of your blogger pals to sign up with this unique URL:

http://bit.ly/15eRunI

Thanks so much!

Best,
Peter Friis
CEO & Co-Founder

My reply to Peter:

Really? I submitted 2 applications and both of them are #105 in line….can you say…SCAM?

Feedback before I blog about the scam you are doing? I have both of your emails telling me I’m #105 for 2 separate blog posts that I did.

Comments?

Tamara

Guess we’ll wait to here back? Maybe? What are the chances of getting a response do you think? Posted under the category Consumer Info because you need to know!  :)

****UPDATE***

I have heard back from Peter Friis, the CEO of the company and he indicated a glitch in their system for the auto responder. Hey, computers can glitch out and when you have as many people requesting to be part of the review it’s understandable, right? I am happy he took the time to look into the situation and clarify what the problem was. Thank you Peter.

This product certainly looks interesting and I’m looking forward to learning more about it! Anything will natural essential oils is totally up my alley!

Reiki: Health and Wellness

Reiki: Health and Wellness

What is Reiki?

Reiki is something I learned over 7 years ago and while I first only intended to use it on family and maybe a friend or two, I recently decided I could better put it to use by helping others.

So, with much enthusiasm I re-took my Level 1 and 2 course for Reiki to refresh my skills and began practicing like a mad-woman! First on family, then on friends and friends of friends. Discussing each session with my clients and marveling at the feedback and accuracy of this new practice I have found myself in!

So What is It?

It is energy work. Pure and simple. Working with the universal energy and allowing it to flow from the abundant universe to the client’s own body. It is relaxing, so much in fact that many clients fall asleep within minutes! Non-invasive and gentle, it can be done on anyone.

I write more about it on my Airdrie Reiki Health and Wellness blog so please take a moment to pop over there to learn more about Reiki and how a session typically goes and what it’s all about!

If you haven’t already tried Reiki – I STRONGLY suggest you find a good practitioner and have a session done -it’s amazing!

Does My Mac Have Virus: Redirects to Yahoo Spam Search Results

Mac Computer Redirecting to Yahoo Search Results

If you are using FIREFOX and your computer is redirecting you to Yahoo and then a bunch of non-relevant sites, you may not have a virus at all. I had this issue for months and could not figure it out. Turns out, it was some add-ons by the same company, SPIGOT, (don’t ask how they got there, I don’t know!) But once removed, everything was fine.

  1. When your Firefox browser is open go to TOOLS
  2. Click on Add-ons
  3. Go to Extensions
  4. Start looking for any by the company SPIGOT (will likely be greyed out because it’s not compatible with updated Firefox
  5. Uninstall the SPIGOT extensions. (Amazon, Ebay and a couple others most likely. Personal experience, there were 4 add extensions to delete.)
  6. Clear history and Close Firefox.
  7. Reopen and should be good as new!

This also removes that annoying ‘Hot Deals’ tab that shows up in your browser. Don’t bother with all that DNS changing stuff until you’ve tried this. I tried DNS first and of course it didn’t work. The problem was in the Firefox extensions.

Hope this helps!

It Works! Body Wrap for Natural Weight Loss

It Works! body wraps are very unique and designed to help you lose fat. It tightens and tones and helps flush all the toxins out of your body. Seriously.

Does It Works! Really Work?

Okay, I was skeptical too. When I used to write for Suite 101 our articles were complemented by advertisements which is how the company made money. They allowed these gosh awful ‘belly’ ads to appear. You know those ones with the flabby belly cartoon and then it mysteriously shrinks!

We HATED those ads. They were cheap and cheapened the articles we worked so hard on producing. They did make money though and why wouldn’t they? Do you know how many people want to have a flatter stomach. Firmer thighs and buttocks. Get rid of the flab under the arms and the chin? Lose the wrinkles on the face. Yeah, we’re talking MILLIONS.

But recently, a friend of mine was introduced to It Works! and tried it out. She lost 4 inches on her waist after the first application! The application is 45 min long and the formula keeps on working for 72 hours! It absorbs into the body, breaking down fats and toxins and with your help in drinking lots of water, you flush it out.

Sounds too good to be true, but if you see the number of Before & After photos out there and read the testimonials, how do you say it doesn’t work? You won’t know until you try right?

Can It Works! Get Rid of My Baby Belly Fat?

As a mom, you probably have  bit of loose skin around your mid-section. Baby stretches you out and sometimes that skin doesn’t easily snap back into place. Despite exercise and good eating, it can seem like a losing battle. (I know, been there, done that.) Plastic surgery is not always an option. Expensive, hard on your body and big recovery time.

So what kind of natural weight loss/fat loss method can you try? There are diets, sure. But like all diets they don’t work. Most likely you will slow your metabolism down and as soon as you start eating again you gain weight. Fail. You can try supplements designed to boost your metabolism. Some of these can work, though some may be dangerous, especially over a long period of time. Research must be done on what supplements are safe. Plus, boosting your metabolism helping you burn what you are eating – you need something to tighten and tone what you have.

Before and After Photos of It Works! Body Wrap

Not Photoshopped, these are actual photos and believe me, there are many, many more just like them.

Oil Pulling and Health Benefits

How to Do Oil Pulling & Health Benefits

Oil pulling is not a new concept, it’s been around for hundreds and How to do oil pulling and the health benefitshundreds of years but it’s lately making a comeback as a great way to de-toxify your body, whiten your teeth and give you good overall health. It’s an Ayurvedic method that detoxifies and rejuvenates your body and requires nothing more than some oil and the dedication to swish it around in your mouth for up to 20 min a day!

What is Oil Pulling?

Simply put – it’s swishing oil around in your mouth. Sort of like a mouthwash, though you do it a little longer. The idea is to swish the oil around in your mouth, have it mix in with the saliva and allow the oil to draw toxins from your mouth and body into the swish. After the 20 minutes is up, simply spit out the swish (into a garbage) and rinse your mouth if you desire. Done.

Who Can Do Oil Pulling?

Because you do not want to swallow or especially, choke, on the oil, be careful when allowing children to do oil pulling. They need to be able to do the swishing without swallowing or chocking.

There are also mixed reviews on whether to do oil pulling when pregnant or breastfeeding. Always do your own research. Many women have done oil pulling because they can’t get dental work done while pregnant and they have claimed no adverse reactions and have had no teeth problems either. Others have claimed it helped their morning sickness, but again, do your research to be safe.

Health Benefits of Oil Pulling?

The whole concept goes beyond just a healthy mouth. The whole health of your body starts with your mouth and with the oil pulling the toxins from your body and helping your body function as it should, it’s no surprise that oil pulling is said to be good for:

  • Migraine Relief
  • Hormone Imbalance Relief
  • Reducing Arthritis Inflammation
  • Help with GI Tract
  • Reduce Eczema and other skin related issues
  • Reduce lung problems, bronchitis
  • Reduce Sinus congestion and mucus build up
  • Improved vision
  • Reduce insomnia
  • Helps with hemorrhoids and irritable bowel syndrome
  • Reducing hangover
  • Reducing pain
  • Reduces allergies
  • Detoxifies from heavy metals

Dangers of Oil Pulling

There are no known dangers of oil pulling except for the obvious danger of swallowing the oil. Actually, swallowing the oil pulling leads to white teeth and overall good healthoil itself is not really harmful, though the toxins the oil will contain once you are done are not meant to be swallowed. Any oil is dangerous if choked on though, so be sure not to choke on the oil. If the oil enters the lungs you will not be able to get it out.

This is why you must show caution when deciding on what age children should be allowed to do oil pulling.

How to Do Oil Pulling

Best done first thing in the morning, before you have eaten anything. Do not oil pull on a full stomach.

Take the oil of your choice – it can be coconut, sesame, sunflower etc. Personally, I prefer coconut oil. You can take 1 tsp or 1 TBSP, whatever is most comfortable for you. ( I would start with a teaspoon and work my way up eventually.) Now, you can either get the oil in liquid form (if it’s not already) by placing it in a small bowl, inside a larger bowl of hot water. Or, you can just put it in your mouth, coconut oil for example melts really quickly.

Now, gently begin swishing back and forth, swishing between your teeth and working the oil around your teeth with your tongue. You don’t have to swish hard and you don’t want so much oil in your mouth that you end up swallowing or choking on the oil!

Many people wake up in the morning, get the oil in their mouth, jump into the shower, do their routine and then spit the oil out (into the garbage otherwise it’ll clog the drains) and then be on their way. You can swish with a bit of sale water once you are done and brush your teeth if you’d like, or just swish with regular water if you need to.

Adobe error code 1069 for Kobo

Getting an error code 1069?

After searching for an answer online and not seeing any solutions I played around with my Kobo and figured it out.

Recently I had changed my Adobe password, this is likely why I suddenly couldn’t download any books from my library.

I uninstalled Overdrive and then reinstalled it. Check your date and time settings ( otherwise Adobe will tell you to check them at the next step).

Go into Overdrive and add your library. You will be told you need an Adobe ID. Enter you ID and password and browse all the setting options.

You should be good to go now. With your Adobe ID updated you should now be able to download your books.
